Although the Global Disabled Foundation was officially launched with the decision numbered 2019/679 of the Istanbul 8th Civil Court of First Instance dated 04.12.2019 and the registry number 6626 of the General Directorate of Foundations, its broader, more inclusive projects that encompass all five disability groups (visual, hearing, mental, physical and chronic-senile) and that can produce results for a wider audience, date back to the Physically Disabled Foundation established by our founding president in 1996.
The Turkish Disabled People Foundation was established in 1997 to provide wider and more advanced benefits and to raise public awareness and sensitivity through projects.
Mr. Necdet Öztürk continued his work with the World Disability Foundation on an international level in 2009 and carried out joint studies with the relevant commissions of various countries for this purpose,
He gathered the World Disability Foundation under the umbrella of the World Disability Union and, under the umbrella of the union, he tried to make his work visible and addressable at the highest level through various side events at the United Nations (New York-USA) in many countries around the world.
The Global Disabled People Foundation, which Mr. Necdet ÖZTÜRK describes as his “masterpiece,” aims to create environments where disadvantaged individuals can benefit THEMSELVES, THEIR FAMILIES, THEIR COUNTRY, AND THE WORLD through inclusive projects targeting the global sector and collaborating with all institutional and sectoral actors.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities states:
…Disability is an evolving concept, and it interacts with people with disabilities, resulting in attitudinal and environmental barriers that prevent them from participating fully and effectively in society on an equal basis with others.
Our focus is on inclusion, access, and participation.
While we recognize that there are legal definitions of disability as defined in the Disability Discrimination Act, the purpose of this plan is to remove barriers and ensure equality/fairness that allows us to access them.
We must pay great attention to our vision and strategic plan everywhere.

Global Disabled Persons Foundation “GEV” has a diversity of inclusive values, both material and spiritual.
According to the World Health Organization, there are 5 disability groups and 15% of the world’s population is disabled. (1 Billion Disabled People)
Situation in Turkey: According to data from the State Institute of Statistics (SIS), 12.29% of Turkey’s population is disabled. According to this information, 9,832,000 of the total population of 80 million are disabled. The disabled population comprises 4,321,197 males and 5,510,803 females, making the ratio of the total population to disability 12.29%. The gender-based disability rate is 11.10 % for males and 13.45% for females.
Developing and improving the current and future situation in favor of people with disabilities is possible through holistic and inclusive approaches that are accurate, realistic, and informed. The lack of education and skills inherently negatively impacts and hinders the employment and dignity of people with disabilities. Of particular relevance are the statistics that show that one in three people with a disability are not meeting their clients’ needs, and that people with disabilities are significantly underrepresented in the workforce. Anticipating and meeting the needs of people with disabilities and their families is critical to achieving excellent clinical and family outcomes, reflected in hospital experience measures such as the Quality of Care report. Statistics on the employment challenges of people with disabilities suggest that this is a widespread and chronic community problem.
